i ve got avg back

I've got AVG back

By downloading the latest free version, dated June 16, I've been able to install it. Also, it runs the command prompt - unlike Avast.
No more EZ, hoorah!

I installed AVG Pro and am much happier although I thought I had uninstalled Avast (slowing down my boot times) found a folder full of Avast tonight - ran the complete removal tool. Booted back and found AVG error on load :(
Eventually I am back again without the error on load (repaired the install) are you running AVG ok with UAC enabled? I disabled when trying to fix the error thinking it may have restricted the virus kernel loading. I don't want to re-boot again but hope it isn't the UAC which caused the error. Hope the repair fixed it for me.

Pippin
I disabled UAC as it was irritating having to keep replying.
I don't understand what you mean when you say "I don't want to re-boot again". Do you mean reload Vista as a reboot is of no consequence?

sorry I had re-booted so often to fix the problem I didn't want to do it again. I will leave UAC as it I was beginning to think I was talking to myself with all the questions ;) I had one too many re-boots in a row for UAC & AVG to get fixed.
Think
UAC can stay disabled I tried to work with it but when testing things all the prompts become too much. Will test it with AVG when I can bear more permission granting from UAC. sorry to confuse.

I don't see a June 16 version of Free. I see a May 23, version 394. Do you have a link to the new Free?

The
version number is correct (394). It's probably the definitions file that is dated June. Download it and check if it is named AVG71free_394a763.exe.
